David Lloyd North '54

David Lloyd North was one of the first great athletes at Edina Morningside High School and was in the first graduating class in the new high school. David was on the ground floor of the athletic program as an all-Lake Conference participant in football, basketball and tennis. Fellow inductee Ted Downs was his coach. David went on to the University of Minnesota and late became a "scratch" golfer, playing in many Pro-Ams. The former athlete died in 1986 at the age of 50 from an inoperable brain tumor.

Kathleen Pratt '67

Kathleen was an all-around athlete at Edina-Morningside High School prior to Title IX. The competitive avenue at that time was to participate in the Girls Athletic Association in which she competed in basketball, volleyball, bowling, archery and badminton. She also competed in AAU swimming outside of school., Kathleen went on to the University of Minnesota where she pursued a degree in PE and competed in tack. She currently lives in Portland, Oregon and is still active in athletics. As a mountain climber she did three summits in Oregon and Washington; as a motorcyclist she has raced and won women's events in motocross and desert; as a cycler has participated in the Seattle to Portland bike rides and completed the RAMROD (Ride Around Mt. Ranier in One Day).

Ted Downs, Coach

Ted was a coach and PE teaching in Edina beginning in 1952. He was the first coach in Edina to go to the State baseball tournament, in 1957. At one point, Ted was the head Baseball and Basketball coach, Assistant Football Coach and Head Track coach, coaching great athletes along the way. Ted is the last surviving member of the 1941 University of Wisconsin national championship basketball team, Ted currently lives in Edina with his wife. 

Tom Drees '81

Tom starred in basketball and baseball at Edina East, being names All-Lake South Conference in basketball and All-State in baseball. He co-captained the 3rd place State Baseball Tournament team. Tom continued in baseball at Creighton University. He was drafted by the Chicago White Sox in the 17th round. Tom played for the White Sox organization, Seattle Mariners and Minnesota Twins. Tom was one of two players ever to pitch back-to-back no hitters in the minors. Tom was voted 2nd to Wayne Gretzky as Athlete of the Year by the Canadian Sportswriters Association in 1989. Tom currently lives in Eden Prairie with his wife Stephanie and children Derek, Dylan and Sydney.

Dan Carroll '83

Dan Carroll captained the 1983 State Championship baseball team, He was all-Conference and All-State baseball played his senior year. Dan also played on the 1981 State Tournament football team. In hockey he was a 3-year letterman for Edina East, winning the State Championship his junior year, and the State Consolation Championship has senior year. In all, Dan accumulated two letter in football, three in hockey and three in baseball. Dan was awarded a 4-year scholarship in hockey to the University of Michigan where he graduated with a BA in Management and Communications. Dance lives in Excelsior with his wife Debbra and two sons Stephen and Samuel.

Paul Ranheim '84

As captain of the hockey team, Paul led the Hornets to the 1983-84 State Championship. He was all State First team in 1984 and also played football and soccer for Edina. Paul went on in hockey to the University of Wisconsin, playing four years for UW and winning the NCAA-West All American First Team in 1988. He was a finalist for the Hobey Baker award in 1988. He played for the US National Team in 1988. In 1988 Paul turned pro, playing 1013 games in the NHL and scoring 360 total points for the Calgary Flames, Hartford Whalers, Carolina Hurricanes, Philadelphia Flyers and Phoenix Coyotes. Paul lives in Phoenix with his wife Kathy and their two children.

Kelley Siemon Deyo '97

Kelley Siemon is the youngest inductee, graduating just 10 years ago with many athletic awards. She was a two-time All State and Honorable Mention all America Basketball player. She was the captain of the basketball team her junior and senior years as well as captain of the volleyball team in 1997. In basketball, Kelley is both the all-time leading scorer and all-time leading rebounder. She was a top ten finalist for Miss Basketball and the Metro Defensive MVP. She was the Athena Award winner for Edina High School. Kelley went on to play basketball at the University of Notre Dame and was drafted in the 3rd round to the WNBA by the Los Angeles Sparks. Kelley lives in Virginia with her husband Adam and sons James and Judah.

John "Skip" Thomas '69

Edina remembers Skip as the hockey player to score the winning goal in overtime against Warroad to win the 1969 State Tournament. That 1968-69 team scored 147 goals in 24 games. Skip was twin named WCCO's All-State play of the week.in football, and on the 1968 Lake conference championship team. He was also on the 1968 State Championship baseball team. Skip went on to play and letter in hockey at the University of Minnesota. He is currently a successful realtor in Edina. He lives in Edina with his wife and they've had three sons, all of whom graduated from Edina. 

Jim Becker '75

In Jim Becker's senior year, he was the captain of both the football team and the wrestling team and made it to the 1974 State Wrestling Championship. He was All Conference football in 1973 and 1974 and all-Conference wrestling in 1974 and 1975, A big man on campus, Jim won three letters each in football, wrestling and track. Jim attended the U of M's Carlson School of Management. At the U he lettered in wrestling, was elected captain of the team in 1979-80 and was a two-time NCAA National Championship qualifier. Jim currently lives in Eden Prairie with his wife Leslie and children Mike and Allison.
